Die Beautiful, Seklusyon hailed top MMFF 2016 earners

JUN Robles Lana's "Die Beautiful" was the top earner in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

On the official list released by the festival's executive committee, the Paolo Ballesteros-starrer was hailed the highest grossing MMFF movie this year.

This was followed by Erik Matti's flick "Seklusyon" and Star Cinema's "Vince & Kath & James".

"Saving Sally," starring Rhian Ramos, came in fourth, followed by "Ang Babae Sa Septik Tank 2," "Sunday Beauty Queen," "Oro," and "Kabisera."

According to the MMFF, all movies were shown in equal number of theaters in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, the festival committee also released the high earners from the provincial screenings.

"Vince & Kath & James" led the list followed by "Seklusyon" and "Die Beautiful," respectively.

The MMFF committee failed to indicate, though, the exact amount earned by each movie from its December 25 to January 3 screenings.

Star Cinema reported that “Vince & Kath & James,” starring Julia Barretto, Ronnie Alonte, and Joshua Garcia grossed more than P100 million during the 10-day run.

As per MMFF, all eight films in competition are still being shown in selected cinemas.
