Board elects ex-police chief as LRTA administrator

RETIRED Police Director Reynaldo Berroya has been appointed as the new administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).

The LRTA, in a statement, said its board of directors had “unanimously elected” Berroya as LRTA administrator.

On December 5 last year, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Berroya as member of the LRTA board of directors.

Following his latest appointment, Berroya made a vow to support the programs of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), led by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, to ease the plight of the commuting public.

“I’m committed to support DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade’s initiative to improve the conditions of our mass transit system, in order to provide a safe, reliable, efficient and convenient travel to our commuters,” Berroya said.

Prior to his appointment, Berroya was general manager of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3, chief of the Land Transportation Office, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns and DOTr Undersecretary for Communications.

The LRTA manages the LRT Line 2 system (Santolan station to Recto station). It is also tasked to oversee the performance of the Light Rail Manila Corporation, and the private operation and maintenance contractor of the LRT Line 1 system (Baclaran station to Roosevelt station). (Sunnex)
