7 fall in anti-drug operations

POLICE arrested seven junkies and pushers, including a minor, in separate operations in Consolacion, Danao City and Carcar City last Wednesday.

In Barangay Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion, operatives of the Municipal Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation arrested 20-year-old Ralph Anthony Isoto, 26-year-old Carlo Oberez Cuajao and Jun, 16.

The team seized 10 sachets of white crystals believed to be shabu from the suspects in a buy-bust operation around 10:30 a.m.

The suspects tried to escape but the operatives cornered and arrested them.

Around the same time, police captured three suspected junkies sniffing shabu inside a shanty in Upper Cogon, Barangay Poblacion 1, Carcar City.

Police identified the suspects as 37-year-old Gerald Tausa Sari, 32-year-old Jenny Estrada Repompo and 29-year-old Jun Carlo Quizon Alison.

A sachet of shabu, five tin foil strips and other drug paraphernalia were confiscated from them.

At 2:25 p.m., the Danao City-Anti Illegal Drugs Unit collared Sheena Marie Gica Durano, 28, in Barangay Suba, Danao.

A total of nine small packs of shabu were recovered from her.

Complaints

Police seized more than P5,000 worth of shabu from all the suspects.

The suspects will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Section 11 of the law imposes life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million to those caught possessing any dangerous drugs.

Section 12, on the other hand, imposes six months to four years imprisonment and a fine ranging from P10,000 to P50,000 to those caught possessing drug apparatus, equipment and other paraphernalia.
