Taxi driver robbed in Bacolod

A TAXI driver was robbed by two men at San Mateo Village, Barangay Banago in Bacolod City on Wednesday, the police reported.

Senior Inspector Larry Teovisio, head of Police Station 3, identified the victim as Roy Ruel Buatag, 36, of Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Jerusalem, Cadiz City.

Buatag was threatened at knifepoint by robbers at 27th-Lacson Streets around 11 p.m.

The robbers, who posed as passengers, declared hold-up when they reached the village and carted away Buatag's daily collection amounting to P3,000 and his cellular phone.

The assailants escaped, but Buatag was able to call for help that led to the arrest of one of the two suspects identified as Jhay Garcia, 36, of Villa Felicidad, Barangay Estefania.

Police recovered from Garcia a sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).

The following day, police also arrested Prince Mol Javier, 19, of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 in a hot pursuit operation at Purok Langis, Barangay Banago around 11:30 a.m. He yielded an improvised tooter.

Teovisio said they are checking other police stations to see if the two suspects have previous cases.

Drug and robbery hold-up charges will be filed against Garcia and Javier Friday.

Both are detained at the station's custodial facility.
