Duterte to visit wake of cop killed in Pasay shootout

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte was scheduled Friday evening to visit the wake of a policeman who was killed at the recent shootout in Pasay City with suspected criminals.

In an advisory sent to Palace reporters, the President was expected to go to Tanza, Cavite to visit the wake of Police Officer 1 Enrico Domingo, who died from gunshot wounds in the head following the encounter last Wednesday.

Domingo, along with fellow policemen, was allegedly conducting an anti-illegal drug operation when one of the suspects shot at him. He was pronounced dead on arrival at San Juan de Dios Hospital.

After Duterte’s visit to Domingo’s wake, he would proceed to Quezon City to visit the wake of the 27-year-old son of his chief legal counsel, Salvador Panelo.

Panelo confirmed that his son, Salvador Carlo Panelo III, died of heart complications.

“Our beloved son, Salvador Panelo III, has joined our Maker. He was 27 years old. Please pray for the repose of his soul. Thank you so much for your prayers For my very special child,” Panelo said in a text message sent to reporters.

In a statement, Malacañang extended its condolences to Panelo and his family.

“The Palace extends its heartfelt condolences to Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo on the death of his son, Carlo. Out thoughts and prayers are with the family of Secretary Panelo at this difficult time,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.

Panelo said his son’s remains lie at the Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapels and Crematory and The Ascencion in Quezon City. (Sunnex)
