Capitol eyeing to regularize hospital workers

THE Negros Occidental Provincial Government is looking to hire the job order (JO) employees under its medical services program this year.

Provincial Administrator Leonardo Eusebio said that Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. wanted to regularize all hospital workers of the 11 Capitol-run hospitals because they have “bigger responsibility and liability.”

The hospital workers include doctors, nurses, nursing attendants, medical technicians, and radiology technicians.

If you equate their salaries with their responsibilities, there’s a disparity, Eusebio said.

He said the performance evaluation for hospital employees is ongoing.

“They will be evaluated, either they will be absorbed as contractual or permanent employee,” he added.

After the Provincial Human Resource Management Office completes the process, the list will be presented to the governor, Eusebio said.

He said they are looking to hire the JOs within the first quarter of the year.

“We need to fill the hospitals,” he added.

Based on Capitol records, there are 213 hospital workers, 60 of whom are working at Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City; Ignacio L. Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, 31; Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City, 28; Dr. Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City, 21; and Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, 20.

Others are working at Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City, 16; Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital in La Carlota City, 12; Calatrava Municipal Hospital in Calatrava, 10; Valladolid District Hospital in Valladolid, 8; Merceditas Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City, 4; and Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital in Hinobaan, 3.
