HUGE cash prizes and a free running clinic from Olympian Mary Joy Tabal are the significant additions for the 7th SM2SM Run, which is set on Feb. 19 at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu.

During the press conference yesterday, the organizers announced that every registrant is entitled to a slot to join the clinic of Tabal and her long-time coach, John Philip Dueñas.

SM senior public relations manager RJ Leduna said that about 7,000 runners are expected to join the race that features the men’s and women’s 21-kilometer, 12K, 7K and 3K categories.

Tabal said that they will have four sessions for the running clinic--Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11.

The clinic will start from the basics with an evaluation on the first session. Sample activities will be done on the second session, while run preparation, nutrition and conditioning will be tackled on the last two sessions.

The running clinic, however, will be limited to 1,500 registrants. Organizers encourage the runners to register early so they can avail of the free clinic. When runners register for the run, they can sign up directly on the free clinic list.

Some P500,000 worth of cash prizes are at stake for the winning runners. The men’s and women’s 21K champion will each bag a cool P70,000, second placers will walk away P40,000 richer, while the third placers bag P25,000.
