Senior citizens, PWDs in San Fernando to enjoy free movies during Mondays

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - This city's senior citizens (SCs) and persons with disabilities (PWDs) can now enjoy free movies in all cinemas in this capital city starting Monday.

This, as the the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will start implementing the Expanded Free Movies to Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities Ordinance (SP Ordinance No. 2016-014) authored by Councilor Harvey Quiwa.

According to Quiwa, the revised law aims to recognize and give privilege not only the elderlies but also persons with special needs in the society.

Quiwa explained that the new order reinforced the existing SP Ordinance No. 2014-009 which entitled SCs to free viewing of movies during its first screening on Mondays.

Meanwhile, the new ordinance included the PWDs and can be availed anytime during mall hours every Monday.

"Gusto nating iparamdam sa mga kaibigan na PWDs that they are equally as our senior citizens and yung mafeel nila yung social inclusivity nila," he said.

He added that free viewing of movies of their choice can be availed on some 18 cinemas in all malls in the city except IMAX, VIP theatres, block screenings and pay-per-view and Metro Manila Film Festival entries.

"Ipresent lang nila yung senior citizen or PWD ID nila na nakuha sa San Fernando or kung wala ito, pwede yung Fernandino access card nila," he said.

Quiwa urged all SCs and PWDs to avail of the special privilege as part of the programs of the city government to uplift the spirit of every Fernandino.

"Ang gusto natin dito sa San Fernando, dapat walang naiiwan, lahat kasama sa programa, lahat sama-sama," he noted.
