Man missing for 3 days found dead

A MAN who went missing for three days after being swept away by flashflood in Montevista, Compostela Valley province was found dead Monday morning.

Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) regional director Brigadier General Leoncio Cirunay Jr. identified the fatality as Arnie Jose, 48, a resident from Barangay Banag-Banag in Montevista.

Cirunay said the rescuers retrieved the body of the man in Barangay Tapia of the same town around 11:50 a.m. Monday, January 9. He added that Jose was reportedly drunk when he was swept away by the flood.

The 117 families and 585 individuals, who were evacuated to safer ground due to rising floodwaters and landslides caused by heavy rains, also returned to their homes Monday.

"Medyo unti-unti naman bumabalik yung normal na panahon, pero mahalaga pa rin na mag-ingat tayo," Cirunay said, as he also reported one house was totally damaged and another was partially damaged due to landslide in Monkayo.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tropical Depression Auring, which weakened into a low pressure on Tuesday, might exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday or Friday.
