Polish nabbed in San Remigio for 'human trafficking'

POLICE arrested a 59-year-old Polish for accompanying a 17-year-old girl in San Remigio, northern Cebu, at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 10.

Miroslaw Roman Nieczaja and the minor were about to board a bus toward Cebu City when personnel of the Anti-Trafficking Help Desk noticed them.

The help desk personnel interviewed them. After learning the girl was minor, the police were informed about it.

The team led by the police station chief, Senior Inspector Audie Pelayo, arrested the foreigner.

The Expanded Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 prohibits an adult from accompanying a minor who is not a relative. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
