TWO motorcycle-riding hitmen shot a cigarette vendor to death outside a building in Colon St., Cebu City, on Wednesday dawn, January 11.

Police identified the victim as Bartolome Baynosa, a resident of Minglanilla.

Maria Reminda Sumbilon, live-in partner of the 50-year-old victim, said Baynosa was just selling cigarettes on the sidewalk.

The culprits, who wore full-face helmets, arrived near the vendor. The back rider pulled out his gun and shot Baynosa several times at close range.

Police Officer 3 (PO3) Allan Caumeran of Carbon Police Station said the victim surrendered to them and admitted he was a drug addict, radio DYHP reported.

Homicide investigator PO3 Winston Ybañez, however, said the victim did not surrender last year.

Carbon Police Station called all the ambulant vendors for profiling.

Baynosa and company were also tapped to help the police in informing them of any criminal elements roaming in downtown Cebu City.

Ybañez said the house of Baynosa's neighbor in Minglanilla was recently raided by the police because of reports it doubled as a drug den where drug addicts sniff methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu."

Four persons were caught having pot session.
