'Oplan Rody' to eliminate special treatment in jails

THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Negros Island Region (NIR) has been strictly implementing Oplan Rody to eradicate the reported special treatment of some inmates in the region.

Oplan Rody stands for Removal of scalawags, Offensive drugs operation, Disbandment of gangs, and Yes to discipline.

Inspector Mar Louie Salcedo, spokesperson of BJMP-NIR, told SunStar Bacolod on Tuesday that they received a text from an unidentified sender informing them about the alleged special treatment of certain inmates in one of the district jails.

He, however, dismissed the said accusation, saying they treat all the inmates equal.

“We do not tolerate special treatment in all jails,” Salcedo said.

He added that they do not know who made such an allegation and what is the motive, but they consider it a sabotage of the BJMP.

“(But) we will look into it,” he said.

Salcedo said that all regional offices were given a marching order by the BJMP higher office to implement the Oplan Rody since Superintendent Serafin Barretto Jr. assumed as director of BJMP.
