A CEBUANA high school student did not expect that her photo during the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan dance showdown last Saturday, January 7, will go viral online.
Gerhicka Carcueva, who represented Ginatilan town for the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan, is thankful for the positive comments she received since her photo went viral on social media. Netizens said she looked like the international singer Selena Gomez.
Carcueva, a senior high school student of the Divine Life Institute of Cebu Inc., said she wanted to thank the people who made her popular.
"Ganahan ra sad ko mag-thank you kay if wala pa sad nila, dili sad ma-viral maayo (ang photo) kay tungod ra sad na sa ilang support (I would like to thank them, for without their support, my photo would not go viral)," she said.
The 17-year-old Cebuana-Swiss from Liloan town, in an interview with SunStar on Wednesday, January 11, said she received a lot of positive messages and friend requests on Facebook.
"Daghan mo-chat. Dagha'g message requests. Napuno na akong Facebook. Daghan jud kaayo mga lahi-lahi nga website nga mo-post sa Selena Gomez nga comparison (I received a lot of messages through chat, as well as message requests. My Facebook is already full. A lot of websites are also posting the photo)," she said.
Carcueva's photo, captured by Cebu Daily News' (CDN) photographer Junjie Mendoza, has received thousands of likes and numerous shares after it was posted on CDN's Facebook page Saturday.
