A YOUNG girl died while 12 others were injured when the tricycle they were riding figured in an accident at Barangay Gintubhan, Isabela in Negros Occidental on Thursday.
Police identified the fatality as seven-year-old Stephanie Ladriño.
Chief Inspector Efcel Balibadlan, head of Isabela Municipal Police Station, said over Aksyon Radyo Bacolod that tricycle driver Felix Pasolinao was speeding while the tricycle was overloaded.
The victims were rushed to a hospital.
The tricycle driver is detained at the station's custodial facility.
Meanwhile in the neighboring Hinigaran town, an old man died after he was ran over by a cargo truck along the national highway of Barangay IV Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, chief of Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, identified the fatality as Maximo Genosa, 70, of Barangay 1.
Investigation showed that Genosa was crossing the street around 8:10 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Glenn Fernandez, 43, of Barangay Candumarao.
Fernandez voluntarily surrendered to the police.
A settlement was agreed between both parties on Thursday, Resuma said.
