Duterte tours Japan PM Abe in Davao

JAPANESE Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday morning spent his second day to the country at the abode of President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City.

Duterte’s special assistant Christopher Go took to Facebook the tour of Abe to the President’s “simple home.”

In a Facebook post, Go said Abe also had the chance to go to Duterte’s bedroom for 10 minutes and see for himself the “comfort of his old and favorite mosquito net.”

Go, in a text message to reporters, said the Japanese Prime Minister stayed at Duterte’s house for about 45 minutes.

He said Abe, who had breakfast with the President, was served biko, suman, kutsinta and mongo soup.

Before leaving the country by noon, Abe was scheduled to attend a conference with Filipino and Japanese businessmen at Waterfront Insular Hotel in the province.

Abe would also visit Mintal Japanese Cemetery in Mintal, Davao City and the Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku in Lanang, Davao City.

Abe was the first foreign leader to visit the Philippines since Duterte assumed the presidency.

His visit brought in about 1 trillion yen aid package for the Philippines. (SunStar Philippines)
