IN PHOTOS: Sinulog 2017 solemn procession

DESPITE the rain, people flocked to streets to join the solemn procession in honor of the Child Jesus on Saturday, January 14.

The devotees brought with them umbrellas, images of Sto. Niño, candles, and rosaries, as they respond to the holy rosary spoken in English and Cebuano.

Reports said about 500,000 people joined the procession.

This year, 5,000 security personnel, including police and government soldiers, were deployed on the streets of Cebu City in the Sinulog and Fiesta Señor activities.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has ordered the police and military to tighten security in the city following the series of bombings in different parts of country recently. (SunStar Philippines)
