Emar College rout Jones Academy

EMAR Human and Environmental College (Ehec) demolished the Davao Jones Academy (DJA), 95-73, in the resumption of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Davao High School basketball tournament Saturday, January 14, at the Gold Star Gym in Bo. Obrero, Davao City.

Kevin Baste poured in 21 points as teammate Thal Dolormente added 15 for Ehec that improved to a 2-1 standing.

DJA's Kent Santillan was ejected in the third period due to unsportsmanlike conduct while DJA's Ariel Lascuña made 21 baskets in a losing cause.

DJA absorbed its first defeat and dropped to a 2-1 mark.

Ehec dribblers imposed resiliency as they unleashed a 21-10 edge in the first period, keeping a double digit lead and never looking back to secure the win.

Ehec head coach Arturo "Jun-Jun" Montalban, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao, said winning the game was their only option to avoid being eliminated considering their first defeat against FAA.

The head coach said he was glad that Baste and Dolormente stepped up during the game just as he expected.

"Nag-work din yung run-and-gun strategy namin," Montalban added.

In another match, the Holy Child College of Davao (HCCD) crushed Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School (Dranhs), 90-67.
