NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. suggested to Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares to run for vice president in tandem with Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II.
“I suggest that Mar Roxas and Poe should talk. Since Poe still lacks experience, she should run for vice president. She will be there for six years and that would be her on-the-job training for the presidency,” Marañon said.
Marañon, who openly supported Roxas’s bid for the presidency, admitted that if Poe decides to run for president in 2016, the Negros votes will be divided between her and Roxas.
Marañon added that six years would be enough experience for Poe especially if she takes a cabinet position such as head of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
“By that time, she would have visited the whole country and know the actual situations of the barangays and the local government units, and have a grasp on the actual situation of the poor," Marañon said.(TDE)
