No Bruno Mars during Miss Universe pageant

BRUNO Mars will not be performing at the 65th Miss Universe pageant which will be held later this month in the Philippines.

This was confirmed by Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro in a radio interview on Sunday, January 15.

According to De Castro, the international singer, who's born to a Filipina mother, is busy preparing for his world tour.

She said that if it’s only for Mars, he would like to be part of the much-anticipated event.

"He really wanted to come. It's just that his agent kept on reminding him that he has to have proper rehearsals for the world tour."

The Miss Universe organization is yet to release names of personalities who will be performing at the coronation night on January 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo said in previous interviews that a well-known international artist with Filipino roots will perform during the competition.

Bruno's name was immediately thrown in the picture but Teo failed to neither confirm nor deny.

De Castro said that even though Mars couldn't attend the program, everyone could expect a high-class performance from the yet to be named guests.

"I can assure you this is a show that not only the Filipinos will enjoy but even the whole world kasi yung mga darating na performers, kilalang kilala ang mga kanta nila."

As of this posting, the Miss Universe organization is only confirming the name of American comedian Steve Harvey as the host of the pageant.

Rumors have it that Harvey is arriving in Manila on January 22, Sunday. (Sunnex)
