Bacolod to get new police chief

SENIOR Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Monday he is waiting for his relief order from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame anytime soon.

Dongbo has served as police chief of Bacolod for a year. He assumed the post in January 9, 2016, succeeding Senior Superintendent Melchor Coronel, who is currently assigned at Police Regional Office (PRO)-Negros Island Region (NIR).

There are three names, two from PRO-Western Visayas and one from PRO-NIR, being speculated to replace him, but he refused to confirm such reports.

“I don’t even know where these reports came from,” Dongbo said, adding that he does not know yet who will succeed him.

Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, public information officer of PRO-NIR, said Monday that Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky from PRO-Western Visayas was transferred to PRO-NIR effective January 13.

She, however, said there is no specific designation yet for Wanky at the regional headquarters.

Catedral said the decision on the next BCPO director will depend on the choice provided by the regional director to the mayor or on the choice of the higher headquarters.
