1 killed, 1 hurt in La Trinidad stabbing

A PORTER was killed while his minor companion was injured after they were repeatedly stabbed by a still unidentified knife-wielding assailant at the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post along Km. 5 Monday dawn.

Authorities identified the fatality as Levy Kelino Tayab, farmer and a resident of Central Bahong, La Trinidad, Benguet and a native of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Initial police investigation showed the two individuals and their companion were walking within the vicinity of the trading post when they were followed by their assailant who repeatedly stabbed them on the different parts of their bodies before fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.

The victims were rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment but the porter was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while his 17–year-old companion is now confined for further observation.

The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by responding police operatives for him to answer for the crime he committed.

In Ifugao, a Grade 8 student died while two others were hurt after their vehicle suffered from mechanical trouble and rammed into boulders at Chalalo, Aguinaldo in Ifugao Sunday afternoon.

The fatality was a 16–year–old grade 8 student at Ubao National High School, and a resident of Butac Aguinaldo, Ifugao while his two wounded companions were named as Mayrish Bakichan Nawalig, 18, single, 3rd year college at IFSU Alfonso Lista, Ifugao and Janice Guinomon, 25, married, and resident of Butac Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

Initial police investigation showed the victim was standing on the rear of the jeepney when it suddenly suffered from mechanical trouble, accelerated backwards and was pinned in the boulders that was along the road that causing his death.

The victim was immediately rushed by concerned passers-by to the Aguinaldo District Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival while his wounded companions are still undergoing close medical supervision.

The case is still subject to further investigation by the responding police operatives to ascertain the real cause of the accident. (PRO-COR PIO)
