Bomb joke a dud

A MAN was arrested after making bomb jokes at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT).

Joel Guillena, 25, who hails from Miputak, Dipolog, was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m. at Entrance 2 of the terminal.

Guillena reportedy told the security guard that “naa koy da nga lima ka kilong bomba (I brought five kilos of explosives)."

According to Jonathan Tumulak, the terminal's security management head, the joker and his friends were about to walk through the detector and to have their bags checked when Guillena cracked the bomb joke.

Upon inspection of his bag, the guard only found clothes and no bombs.

Tumulak said that they made sure when they handcuffed Guillena they didn't catch the attention of other passengers because they wanted to avoid panic or public disturbance. In fact, he said, they covered the handcuff with clothing.

Guillenal told authorities that he has always been a joker.

According to Presidential Decree 1727, the malicious dissemination of false information of threats about bombs and similar explosive devices is unlawful.

Tumulak said the operations continued at the CSBT despite the incident.

Guillena is currently detained in the Carbon Police Station.
