TROPICAL Depression Auring has left P4.063 million worth of damage to agriculture in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, a report from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist showed.

OPA reported that 143.79 hectares of rice plantations in Himamaylan City were damaged due to heavy rains and flash floods last January 9.

OPA also said that 326 farmers were affected after “Auring” battered the crops.

When “Auring” hit last week, some residents of Barangay 1 in Kabankalan City were stranded after the waters in Lugway-Ilog River and Hilamonan Creek overflowed due to torrential rains.

Sea trips resume

Sea trips in Bacolod City and in Negros Occidental resumed at 5 p.m., Tuesday, after the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomic Services Administration lifted the gale warning.

The heavy rains on Monday also displaced some 35 families in Cadiz City.
