MEA Gey Niñura of the Kapatagan National High School (KNHS) will spice up the annual trackfest as they confirmed to join the 5th leg of the 2016-2017 Smart Blue Knights Track League (BKTL) Season 3-PSC Weekly Relays which is set to unfurl at 6 a.m. on Saturday at the Ateneo de Davao University Fr. Martinez Sports Complex track oval in Matina, Davao City.

"So far nag yes ang Kapatagan so kasali si Mea Gey (the Kapatagan said yes so Mea Gey is in)," league tournament Airnel Abarra said in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao on Wednesday, January 18.

The KNHS, where Niñura is currently studying, dominated the past BKTL after harvesting 12 gold medals, seven silvers and three bronzes last year.

Abarra, however, said Palaro 2016 double gold medalist and record breaker Niñura's presence wil raise the level of competition particularly in her favorite events girls 1,500-meter run and 3,000 meter.

"Tingin ko din mas may advantage kasi ma-evaluate niya (Niñura) kanyang performance (I think he has an advantage in his performance) for the upcoming Davao Region Athletic Association Meet," he added.

Teams from Maguindanao, Kidapawan City, Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan, Hagonoy and Lupon already confirmed to also compete in the free registration trackfest.

"Wala pa yung mga regulars from Tagum, Panabo and Davao kasi usually pag Davao Region on the day na sila pumupunta (The regulars from Tagum, Panabo and Davao were not yet here since they usually arrive on the tournament day)," Abarra added.

Categories entered are men and women seniors (17 and above), boys and girls youth (13-16) and boys and girls kids (11-12).
