Takbo Amianan reset

ORIGINALLY set on January 29, Takbo Amianan is rescheduled by organizers to a later date tentatively on March 19.

The reset was made after an unfinished paper works where organizers are mandated to comply before organizing such events.

The city's new ordinance, passed last year, seeks organizers approval from the Department of Social Welfare and Development before the event could push through.

Event will still feature 21K which will kick off at 4:30 a.m., 10K which kicks off at 5:00 a.m., 5K kicks off at 5:30 and the 3K which will have its gun start at 6:00 a.m.

Registration fees are at P600, P550, P450 and P400 respectively.

Race kits will include race bibs, singlets and medals for the top three finishers in each category.

The run is an annual advocacy of a group from the University of the Philippines in support of the various projects and activities of the UP-Baguio’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program which hopes to help the school increase awareness on its DRRM programs and increase resilience amongst its stake holders.

The group conducted its first run last year in January then followed it up with the Takbo Amianan DRRM Exhibit at the UP Grounds wherein Baguio DRRM Council, Las Trinidad DRRM Council, and the Philippine Airforce Tactical Operations Group 1 participated.

The group hopes to conduct a similar race again this year after the run slated for March. (Sharma Buteng)
