Accenture to add 1,000 jobs in Cebu

ACCENTURE Philippines announced that it will hire 1,000 “highly-skilled” workers from this year until 2018 to run its Cebu operations.

In a press conference for Accenture’s 10th year in Cebu yesterday, managing director Lito T. Tayag said the job requirements will cover the areas of finance and accounting, health management, network services, and infrastructure services, among others.

“We are looking for high-value, non-voice work,” Tayag said. Some of these include professionals and experts in Java, SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft.

Over the years, the official said Accenture Cebu has concentrated in non-voice techology services to 120 clients across different parts of the world.

“Accenture is proud of what we have achieved in the Cebu delivery center for our company, our clients, and our people. Our operations here have contributed to our overall growth strategy,” said the company.

Accenture started with 85 employees in Cebu in 2007, with its first office at Pioneer House in Cebu Business Park.

Today, Accenture operates four facilities in Cebu, which are located in Pioneer House, Cybergate, ebloc 2 and ebloc 3 in Cebu IT Park. It has 5,000 employees in Cebu.

For being one of the biggest job generators in Cebu, the Cebu City ICT-BPM Council awarded Accenture as one of the top 10 IT/BPM companies.

One more facility

Within the year, Tayag said the company will open another office in Cebu City, although he declined to reveal additional details.

Moving forward, the Accenture executive believes the talent requirement in the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) will become more complex, as new technologies evolve.

He encouraged the government to invest in Philippine education, particularly in reinforcing science, technology, and engineering among students.

Accenture currently has 22 facilities across Manila, Cebu, and Ilocos with 45,000 employees in the country.

Accenture provides clients with services in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations.
