2 men nabbed in police drug bust in Madridejos

POLICE arrested two suspected drug pushers during a buy-bust in a pension house in Barangay Tarong in Madridejos, northern Cebu last Saturday night. The team led by Insp. Joseph Mangle, town police chief, caught Noel Batasen-in Alemanya and Renan Abello Tampus in one of the rooms of El Dorado Pension House.

Tampus is the caretaker of the establishment. Seized were 11 sachets of white crystals believed to be shabu. They will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Selling of illegal drugs is a non-bailable offense.(KAL)

rAloguinsan farmer electrocuted

A farmer died after he was electrocuted in Barangay Zaragosa, Aloguinsan, Cebu last Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Ricky Juario Mabano, 42. Before the accident happened at 12:45 p.m., Mabano was gathering coconut leaf buds with his younger brother Jerome, 28. One of the buds that Mabano got hit Cebeco’s primary line, which is 7,620 volts. Mabano, after he suffered electric shock, dangled from the wire.

Linemen brought Mabano’s body to the ground and police rushed him to the Pinamungajan District Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead on arrival.(KAL)

rDuterte appoints davide as rpoc 7 chairperson

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III is now the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 7 following the appointment of President Rodrigo Duterte. Duterte announced Davide’s appointment during a stopover at the Mactan Cebu International Airport after a visit in Bacolod City recently. Jason Monteclar, Provincial Public Information Office head, said Davide will focus on issues on terrorism and war against drugs during his term as RPOC chairperson. Davide requested Duterte to provide him a copy of the list of suspected narco- politicians in Cebu.(Jona Godinez, USJ-R Intern)
