Wife denies claims that drug suspects were related to hubby

SLAIN broadcaster and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 spokesperson Jessie Tabanao was not a cousin of two suspected drug personalities in Moalboal.

His wife Katrina, in a phone interview, clarified that her late husband was not related to Glynn and Christian Tabanao Aquino.

“Jessie is not here to explain nga dili sila ig-agaw (they are not cousins),” she said. “As his wife, ako ang moingon nga dili sila ig-agaw (I will say they are not cousins).”

Katrina said Jessie’s mother is not familiar with the two Aquinos.

Last Sunday afternoon, operatives of the Cebu Provincial Police Office’s intelligence and anti-illegal drugs units conducted a buy-bust against Christian, a level 2 drug pusher, in his house.

Hurt

Christian escaped arrest, while police caught his brother Glynn and John Michael Cerdeño.

Seized from the Aquinos’ house were 92 grams of shabu worth P1,085,600, according to estimates of the Dangerous Drugs Board.

Christian is in the watch list of drug personalities in Camp Crame. He allegedly can dispose of 500 grams per week.

Senior Insp. Leo Logroño of the Provincial Intelligence Branch said Glynn claimed to be a cousin of Jessie’s.

For Katrina, Glynn’s claim hurts her family because they have yet to taste justice after Jessie was gunned down on Escario St., Cebu City on Sept. 14, 2013.

“Let him (Jessie) rest peacefully,” she said.
