RRCY 7 boys join songwriting competition

CHILDREN in conflict with the law (CICL) at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) 7 have composed three songs as their entries to the nationwide songwriting contest organized by the Juvenile Justice Welfare Council (JJWC).

The contest has been initiated in connection with the JJWC’s 5th Juvenile Justice Consciousness Week celebration in November 2016.

The song,“Kwento ng Pagbabago,” a rap genre, talked about the story of CICLs’ hope for change and understanding of their worth. Another song, “Aking Pagbabago Alay Ko Saýo,” a contemporary Christian genre, talked about seeking and recognizing God and addressing to the Almighty Father all frustrations, fears, sufferings, and hope of a CICL.

The last composition, a pop song entitled “Binago Nýo ang Buhay Ko” talked about how the Department of Social Welfare and Development and JJWC are helping the CICLs as they go through the process of rehabilitation, including a change of their outlook in life.

The CICLs were encouraged to write original song compositions that focused on hope and change.

The criteria include musicality, lyrics, melody, and relevance to the theme.cause he used to bring mangoes to Martires (now M.J. Cuenco Ave.) when he was younger, Alfredo said.
