‘Narco-mayor’ to meet with PNP chief

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano said Tuesday, January 24, that former Lugait town mayor Wellie Lim will appear before Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald dela Rosa at the Camp Crame to answer allegations regarding his involvement in illegal drugs.

Lim, who has been tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte as a "narco-politician," had already presented himself before Northern Mindanao police regional director Chief Superintendent Agripino Javier on Monday, January 23.

Following standard procedure, Emano said the provincial police office took photos, fingerprints and a urine sample from Lim for a drug test.

Lim can only clear his name at Camp Crame and through his appearance before the authorities, it will hasten the investigation against him, Javier said.

Emano said Javier will set a meeting for Lim and Dela Rosa at the Camp Crame.

The governor also said until now, Lim remains clueless why his name ended up in the President’s list.

"Hangtod karon siya (Lim) mismo naglisod aha nga incident nga naapil iyang ngalan mao nga iyang pag-adto sa Crame iyang masuta ug masubay aha dapit siya na-implicate (Until now, he is still clueless on what incident led him to be involved so if he goes to Camp Crame, he can trace where he was implicated)," Emano said.

Emano said that Lim can be cleared if it was only on the regional level but the President ordered to have him cleared in the national level.
