4 'drug pushers' killed in police operations

FOUR suspected drug pushers were killed by police in separate operations in Aloguinsan and Minglanilla on Tuesday, January 24.

Police seized 33.76 grams of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," from suspects Marvin Canencia, Joselito Macapas, Anotado Zafra, and Joel Maing.

The Dangerous Drugs Board Value of the contraband is P398,368.

Four handguns, bullets, and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Maing, Zafra, Macapas, and Canencia were brought to separate public hospitals, where they were declared dead on arrival.

Operatives from Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, Provincial Intelligence Branch, and Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group conducted the drug busts.

The first operation happened in Barangay Saragosa, Aloguinsan at 5:30 p.m.

The joint team, assisted by the town's police, targeted Canencia, who during the deal was with his cohort, Macapas.

It was Macapas who noticed they were dealing with police, after he noticed the buyer gesturing to someone.

They pulled out their pistols and engaged the police in a shootout. No one was hit from the operatives.

At 8:15 p.m., the joint team moved to Sitio Lower, Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla, to arrest Zafra.

Operatives fired at Zafra and his companion, Maing, after the two allegedly attempted to shoot when they were about to get arrested. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
