Bucana fire victims get aid from social services

THE Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) Wednesday, January 25, distributed financial aid to the victims of the Bucana fire that killed two toddlers last January 18, at Purok 12-B in Dapsa, Saint John Bucana, Barangay 76-A.

CSSDO Head Maria Luisa Bermudo, in a text message to SunStar Davao Wednesday, said their office has extended a total amount of P299,000 to 34 families who were affected by the fire.

Based on an earlier report, more than 37 houses were razed by the fire and killed two toddlers namely, the three-year-old Angelie Gales and her brother Rodel Gales after they were left sleeping in their house.

An electrical short circuit was the alleged cause of the fire.

Bermudo said the handing out of the financial assistance to the victims of the recent fire incident which razed 47 houses last January 20 at Purok Interior, Kilometer 5, Buhangin Proper village is also underway.
