3 arrested in drug bust

AUTHORITIES arrested three suspected drug pushers in two separate drug busts in Davao City Sunday in a continuing campaign to cleanse the city with illegal drugs.

San Pedro police, led by station commander Chief Inspector Ronald Lao, in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), conducted the operation at Purok 8, Barangay 76-A that resulted in the arrest of Salimar Bolang Jamili, 20, a beautician and a resident of the same place.

Initial investigation conducted by San Pedro police revealed that the suspect was arrested after he received the P500 marked money from a police officer who posed as a buyer.

Seized from the suspect was a medium-sized sachet of suspected shabu.

Jamili, in an interview, admitted he's into selling illegal drugs but denied that he is one of the big-time pushers in the area.

"Ginagmay lang man ni akoa sir (I only sell small amount of shabu)," Jamili said.

Lao told Sun.Star Davao in an interview that a certain alias Tawil believed to be a big-time supplier along Boulevard was seen in the area prior to the transaction.

But Tawil was able to evade the police officers and escaped through the roof.

"We will go after him (Tawil)," Lao said in the vernacular.

Police also found used aluminum foils and other drug paraphernalia left by the suspect and his companions outside the suspect's house.

San Pedro police also conducted another drug bust in Barangay 24-C. Arrested were Jonasir Ecoras, 25, of Barangay 31-D, and Leah Clair Abad Asio, 25, single, of Barangay 21.

Seized from the suspects were sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money. They were also arrested after selling illegal drugs to a police officer who acted as a buyer.

All three suspects are currently detained at the San Pedro police station.
