CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - A 29-year old construction worker was shot by a police officer in front of his six year old son at a restaurant in front of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO) in this capital city recently.
The victim, identified as Jerome Yalung Marin from nearby Sto. Tomas town was shot in the legs by Police Officer 2 Marimar Dizon of the Pampanga Intelligence Branch while having a drinking session at the D' Tagnan restaurant, fronting the PPPO along Capitol Boulevard in Barangay Sto. Niño last Saturday evening.
According to the Marin's brother Myron and cousin Robin Cabuso who witnessed the incident, the victim and his son already boarded their motorcycle when the suspect approached him.
Their conversation allegedly led to a heated argument and a fistfight until Dizon pulled out his gun from his bag and shot Marin on the legs.
Upon seeing his bloodied brother, Myron allegedly tried to grab the gun from the suspect's possession until personnel from the Pampanga PPO arrived and pacified the situation.
Marin was immediately brought to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital while Dizon is presently under the custody of the City of San Fernando police.
Recovered from the crime scene were the Glock 17 service firearm of the suspect with serial number PNP26625 loaded with 12 ammunition, an empty shell and a 9mm pistol.
