THE Commission on Human Rights (CHR) 7 plans to probe recent anti-illegal drug operations in Lapu-Lapu City, Aloguinsan and Minglanilla that killed five suspected drug pushers.
Leo Villarino, CHR 7 chief investigator, told SunStar Cebu that they will be conducting a “moto propio” investigation to determine if the five suspected drug pushers really died in legitimate police operations.
Last Tuesday, Marvin Canencia and Joselito Macapas were killed when they allegedly fought back against operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group and two other units in Barangay Saragosa, Aloguinsan.
Ian Anotado Zafra and Joel Maing were killed in another anti-illegal drug operation in Sitio Lower, Barangay Pakigne in Minglanilla hours later.
The next day, Modesto “Jongjong” Amoin Jr. was killed by policemen conducting a buy-bust inside his rented room in an inn in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.
Villarino said he wants to know why Amoin was shot in the head when operatives could have just disarmed him.
