ATENEO de Manila University won over University of the Philippines (UP), 103 - 77 recently in the juniors division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and Bacolod City's Samjosef Belangel continued to shine with his consistent output.
Belangel had 32 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and a steal while Dave Ildefonso added 20, RV Berjay collected 17 and Kai Sotto hit 12 for the Blue Eaglets which improved to 6-5 record good for fourth.
Juan Gomez de Liano topscored for UP Integrated School with 26 markers trying to lift the skidding Junior Maroons (3-8 slate) now running sixth behind Adamson University (10-1), National University (9-2), Far Eastern University (8-3) Ateneo and University of Sto. Tomas (4-7).
UPIS is tied with De La Salle Zobel while University of the East is in the bottom with 1-10.
Belangel was outstanding in this game scoring all his 32 points in 28 minutes while attempting only nine field goals. He was two of three from the three-point area, six of six from the perimeter, and made 14 of his 16 free throw attempts. (HGD)
