NEWLY-ORGANIZED Bacolod City Chess Association Inc. (BCCAI) headed by Dominador Bergano Jr. will host the 1st Inter-Barangay Mayor’s Cup Chess Team Championship 2017 at the Bacolod Government Center Annex Building on February 11 to 12.

The four-leg team championship is scheduled on April 29 and 30, July 29 and 30, and October 7 and 8, with the individual grand event on December 16 and 17.

“There are a lot of talented chess players and enthusiasts in our city who need proper support and exposure to hone them in preparation for bigger events,” Bergano said.

“This tournament will serve as one of the major sports program of the city government which aims to let talented woodpushers play and represent the city in national and international competitions in the near future,” he added.

Completing the officers of BCCAI are Jessie Sanchez, vice president; Henry Tia, treasurer; Tibor Espinosa, secretary-general; Remia Quebrar, auditor; Rodolfo Toledo, business manager; directors, Atty. Alex Abastillas, Rodney Carmona, Rosinie Distrito, Dante Albao, Jesus Jimenez, Edilberto Uy, Dr. Jose Alavado, Atty. Ben Ortega, and Atty. Ronelo Pauyon.

The championships is a seven-round Swiss System with a time duration of one hour and five minutes per player play to finish format.

Each team will have five players, where four players will be allowed to play on Boards 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Only one titled or rated player is allowed for every team and must play in Board 1.

Registration is P500 for every team.

Bergano will lead the working committee as tournament director while Dante Albao will be the chief arbiter.
