Davao resto makes it on Philippine Tatler’s list

DAVAO's very own The White House Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge added a new feather on its cap when they were recently included in the list as Best Restaurant Guide 2017 for Philippine Tatler, a society magazine.

Philippine Tatler annually provides exclusive coverage of the best local and international events. The magazine also provides its readers essential information on the finer things like arts and culture, business, travel, trends, and food or wine.

It is truly a pride and glory for the island as it is the only resto from Davao City and in Mindanao that was included in the list of more than 170 best restaurants all over the country.

The list includes the most prestigious and sought-after restaurants from Manila, Cebu, Baguio, Iloilo, and other big cities in the country.

Each year, Philippine Tatler presents its list that carries a wide selection of restaurants that offer delectable and satisfying foods.

Owner and Chef Cathy Binag revealed in an interview that being a risk taker in the business had somehow helped her achieved the citation.

“Ang importante lang talaga is yung consistency mo. Like kung ano yung sini-serve mo on your first year, yun pa rin [dapat] till now (Consistency is important. Like what you served in your first year should be served till now),” Binag said.

The picturesque house stands beautifully along Camella Northpoint along JP Laurel Avenue in Davao City. It was restored and transformed into an elegant fine-dining restaurant and wine lounge, giving a laid-back and comfy ambiance to its clientele.

Binag added their foods range from Asian fusion, French and Japanese cuisines which she said are served uniquely.

“Compared sa iba na laging nakikiuso, like uso yung ramen, hala nag-ramen na lahat, sa amin hindi (Compared to the others who follows the latest trend, like when ramen became trending then they all served ramen, but we’re different). Kasi sa akin (Because for me) I just present the menu or the foods na gusto and I think yun yung nagustuhan din ng Tatler sa amin (that are liked and I think that was what the Tatler admired about us),” Binag said who also owns a Filipino Comfort Food Restaurant along Damosa, Davao City.

With the newest citation, Binag felt the pressure in keeping its name on the list and to be always included as among the best restaurants in the country.

“Dati parang excited pa ako kasi nga ayan Tatler yan, pero ngayon, ay nakaka-pressure pala. Kasi dapat (Before I was excited because it’s the Tatler, but now I feel pressured. Since) you have to innovate, improve and show more.”

Despite the pressure, Binag is much more hype and driven in bringing out the best for their customers.

She said their restaurant is a landmark of gustatory delight that offers guests a dining experience to its finest.

“Sa amin, di lang pleasing sa mata yung pagkain pati rin ang lasa (For us, the food is not just pleasing to the eyes but also taste good). Since I started the business, I seldom change the recipe. May mga dagdag [lang] ng konti (Only a few were added).”

Aside from the citation coming from Tatler, The White House was also given the Certificate of Excellence last 2015 by Tripadvisor. They are also the recipient of Best Asian Fusion Cuisine Specialty Restaurant of Golden Globe Annual Awards for Business Excellence.

Chef Binag assured customers that every dining experience will be a memorable one by making sure that their client will never run out of reason to keep coming back and experience the delectable and satisfying treats at The White House Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge.
