Magnitude 4.9 earthquake hits Surigao del Norte

A MAGNITUDE 4.9 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte around 10:43 a.m. Monday, January 30.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the epicenter of the earthquake 15 kilometers east of Burgos, Surigao del Norte, at a depth of 27 kilometers.

The earthquake was felt at Intensity V in Burgos; Intensity IV in Surigao City and in towns of Del Carmen, Dapa, Pilar in Surigao del Norte; Intensity III in Loreto, Dinagat Island and Soccorro, Surigao del Norte; and Intensity II in Palo, Leyte; San Francisco, Southern Leyte, and in towns of General Luna and Tubod in Surigao del Norte.
