ABOUT 73 kilos of chicken feet with bumblefoot infection were confiscated yesterday afternoon in Carbon Public Market by Cebu City’s Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF).
City Veterinarian Dr. Alice Utlang said the chicken got their infection from their wired cages.
Utlang said bumblefoot occurs when bacteria invades and causes infection in the skin of a chicken’s foot, creating a puss-filled abscess.
The bacteria’s entry point can be a cut, scrape, injury or a simple raw spot caused by walking on wet, dirty bedding.
