Manila's IEM Spikers complete a 3-peat over Cebu's JPC All-Star

MANILA's IEM Alindahaw Spikers created history becoming the first three-peat champion of the 12th Annual Kinoguitan Volleyball Open 2017 held recently at the covered court of Kinoguitan town in Misamis Oriental.

It was not an easy job for the Grandslammer as the hard-fighting JPC All-Star Cebu of coach Bong Rameri stretched the titular match into a breathtaking five-setter before going down in a 17-19 defeat.

"We're proud runner-up to Manila's Alindahaw Spikers, though nakamahay lang mi kay wala gipadula among isa ka player," later shared Rameri, who for the past 10 years celebrated his birthday in Kinoguitan as it coincidentally falls in the advent of the annually-held cash-rich tourney.

Still, event organizer lawyer Cancio Nicanor Guibone and the Barkadahan-Kinoguitan relished for the successful staging of the town's major fiesta sports highlight.

"Dose ka tuig na atong torneyo. Masabtan ra gihapon nila puhon that sometimes we have to give someone else a lesson or two the hardest way," said Guibone in his Facebook wall.

For its feat, Manila's Alindahaw Spikers brought home the P35,000 top purse plus trophy. While Cebu's JPC All-Star received the runner-up prize of P20,000. Third and fourth placers Good Health Cagayan de Oro and Panlibatuhan Valencia City settled for P10,000 and P5,000 each also with trophies.

The organizers also acknowledged the other participants like Guibone Xprez MisOr, City High CDO, Jea Steel CDO and Tsada CDO for another memorable chapter of the Kinoguitan Volleyball Open.
