Board confirms appointment of new provincial administrator

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The Provincial Board headed by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. confirmed Monday, January 30, the appointment of Nimrod S. Camba as the new provincial administrator.

Camba took over the position vacated by former Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan.

A lawyer and 41 years old, Camba first served as executive assistant to then Governor Amado Espino III, now congressman of the fifth district of Pangasinan.

He said he has “big shoes to fill” knowing that former provincial administrator Rafael Howard Baraan is known for his managerial and administrative skills and who served as the alter-ego of the former governor.

Camba, whose father is from Bolinao town, and mother from Binmaley, said that it was Governor Espino’s “full trust and confidence” in him that paved the way for his appointment as provincial administrator.

Thanking the governor for the opportunity given to him, the new provincial administrator said he will serve as a bridge that will connect all department heads among themselves and with the office of the Governor, adding he will also be the bridge between the executive to the legislative branches of Provincial Government.

He said the bridge will also serve as path that will connect the Capitol to the rest of the province.

Expressing his desire to give his best shot so as to live up to the trust and confidence accorded to him, Camba said he fully embraces the responsibility of being the new provincial administrator.

A practicing lawyer for 15 years, Camba first served the government as a legal counsel for the National Liga ng mga Barangay.

His involvement in Pangasinan, however, started when he was tapped by then Pangasinan Liga ng Barangay president Amadeo I Espino III as legal consultant of the federation in 2009.

A consistent top student of his class from elementary to college, Camba was first honor at the Dulag Elementary School, first honorable mention at the Binmaley Catholic School, and Cum Laude at St. Louis University where he earned his pre-law with the degree of AB Political Science in 1996. He earned his Bachelor of Laws in 2001 at San Beda Colege.

Born on June 10, 1975, Camba is married to the former Paula Sharon Bahala, a dentist by profession. They were blessed with four children. (PNA)
