Palace exec vows to help push funding, resources for NegOr cops

AN OFFICIAL from the Office of the President vowed Monday, January 30, to help the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office acquire funds and resources to boost its law enforcement capabilities.

Assistant Secretary Gaspar Ramon Villegas, director of Communications of the Office of the President, paid a courtesy call on Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, acting Negros Oriental provincial police director of Negros Oriental, Monday afternoon at Camp Fernandez in Agan-an, Sibulan town.

In an interview, Villegas said he will propose to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa to give the Negros Oriental police priority because of its accomplishments, especially in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Villegas, who hails from Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, noted the improvement in the local police’s anti-narcotics campaign as compared to the past.

He said the police in Negros Oriental should be given more facilities, such as police stations, and the renovation of existing ones.

Police stations also need additional patrol cars because it is embarrassing to have old police vehicles that will lower the morale of the police personnel, Villegas said.

Villegas said he also noted the need for equipment like computers and motorbikes for the police in the province.

He said he would discuss with Local Government Secretary Mike Sueño what aid could be given to the police in the region.

He said he was impressed with the accomplishments of the Negros Oriental police under the leadership of Biñas. (PNA)
