FIVE-YEAR-OLD Lady Jewel Gasta Agduma is this year's participant of Davao for the national tilt of Robinson's Star Kids Season 2.
The competition looks for the brightest, cutest, most charming, most talented, most telegenic, and most photogenic kids from all over the country.
In Davao, the elimination rounds took place at the supermarket area lobby of Robinson's-Abreeza last May 30 wherein 10 multi-talented Dabawenyo cuties showed off what they've got to become the official bet for the national quest.
In the said elimination rounds, one girl and one boy were picked to represent the region.
Jacky G. Agduma, the young and gorgeous mother of Lady Jewel, said in an interview that she never expected that her daughter would be so determined to be part of the contest. But since her unica hija really wanted to do it, she had to give her nod and support.
"When we were rehearsing, she would just be giving a dance number so I really got shocked when she asked for a microphone and sang while she was doing her practiced dance routines," shared Jacky. Lady Jewel performed Aqua's "Barbie Girl".
For Lady Jewel's mother, she was certain that it was her little girl's natural wit and talent that took her on top.
"At such a young age, you can already see her determination. And she really makes sure that she's prepared when she goes to a competition. Yes, she surely loves what she's doing," Jacky shared.
The mother-and-daughter duo is set to fly to Metro Manila on June 26 for the Robinson's Star Kids Season 2 Grand Finals.
"Since she is set to compete with other candidates from all regions in the country, I make sure that she gets enough sleep and she only takes in nutritious food such as vegetables and fruits," she said.
Lady Jewel is no newbie to this kind of contests. Apart from the Robinson's Star Kids Search, she was already crowned as 3rd winner during the SM Little Star Davao 2014; she was among the Top 10 winners out of the 409 contestants of the NCCC Kids Model Search before; she was awarded Miss Photogenic and Miss Friendship during this year's Munting Mutya ng Dabaw; and she was also part of this year's Top 12 finalists of the SM Little Star Davao.
The young Julia Barretto look-a-like told me that she's really achieving her dream to become a model and actress someday.
"I want to be like Julia Barretto because we look alike. She has dimples and I also have mine," she quipped as she smiled showing off her dimples.
