Davao City exports up by 8.4%

EXPORTS in Davao City increased by 8.4 percent in the third quarter of 2016 from US$437.37 million to US$474.10 million in the same period last year.

Based on the report of the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC), the top export commodities are fresh bananas, coconut oil, pineapple, desiccated coconut, gold and silver, and mineral fuels, oils, waxes.

Davao's exports are mainly shipped to Japan, Korea, Netherlands, USA, and China.

However, data showed exports in the third quarter of 2016 were 5.15 percent lower than the exports in the second quarter of the same year.

Second quarter of 2016 exports was at US$499.82 million. Export commodities and their destinations remain the same.

DCIPC reported imports decreased by 5.9 percent to US$411.91 million in the third quarter of 2016 from US$437.61 million.

The top import commodities include mineral fuels, oils, waxes; iron and steel; fertilizers; nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; and miscellaneous chemical products.
