1 killed, 3 others hurt in Negros Occidental shootings

A MAN died while three others, including two male teenagers, were injured in separate shooting incidents at Negros Occidental in the past two days.

In Valladolid town, Renante Duran, 32, of Barangay Batuan was shot to death by Rolando Villanueva, 51, of Barangay Guintorilan using a .45 caliber pistol Monday.

Duran sustained gunshot wounds on his chest and abdomen and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

The following day, a young man and his two minor friends were injured after they were shot by Ronnie Gramatico at Purok Nagahili-ugyon, Barangay 26 in Bacolod City on Tuesday.

Police identified the victims as Christian Aposaga, 21, and his two friends aged 17 and 15, whose names were withheld by the police.

Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 4, said the three were sitting beside the road when Gramatico, who was on board a private vehicle fired at them around 3:30 a.m. and fled.

Recovered from the scene of the crime were two fired cartridges of .45 caliber pistol.

Aposaga sustained two gunshot wounds on his shoulder and right arm while his two friends were hit on the leg and are confined at a hospital.

Bonilla said grudge triggered Gramatico to commit the crime after Aposaga's group was previously involved in a stabbing incident with the suspect's group.

A hot pursuit operation is being conducted for the apprehension of Gramatico, who may face frustrated murder charges in relation to child abuse, Bonilla added.

The robber carted away her bag containing cash amounting to P200,000 and jewelry amounting to P400,000, police records showed.

She discovered around 4 a.m. that her personal valuables were already missing.
