Dela Rosa consoles cops of abolished PNP-AIDG

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa met Wednesday with personnel from the PNP-Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) and comforted them following the dissolution of their unit.

Dela Rosa ordered the dissolution of PNP-AIDG as the police have to shift focus to “internal cleansing.”

"Hindi ako galit sa inyo, galit ako sa gumawa ng kalokohan. 'Wag n'yo sabihin na nilalahat ko kayo. Sabi nila demoralized kayo. I understand your feeling," he said.

The PNP chief explained they need to make such “drastic action” in order to clean their ranks of police scalawags.

"Everything happens for a purpose. Let's take it with open heart and open mind," Dela Rosa said.

"I have given instruction na priority kayo kung saan n'yo gusto mapunta...You are good narco cops. Shift your skills sa ibang field," he added.

Former AIDG director Senior Superintendent Albert Ferro will be assigned to the Firearms and Explosives Office as deputy chief, replacing Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo, who was appointed as the head of the newly-created Counter-Intelligence Task Force who will run after scalawag policemen.
