Lawmaker pushes 2 overpass projects to ease traffic

A LAWMAKER is pushing for the construction of two overpasses, which are considered as mega projects, to ease up traffic in Zamboanga City.

District One Representative Celco Lobregat said a feasibility study for the two projects is now being readied by the Department of Public Works and Highway for its inclusion in the 2018 General Appropriations Act.

Lobregat said one of the two overpass projects will be from the junction of Governor Camins Avenue to the Maria Clara Lobregat Highway crossing Veterans Avenue in the east coast.

The other overpass will be along the Zamboanga City Labuan-Limpapa Highway from the junction of Taupan Road in the village of San Jose Gusu to the village of Calarian in the west coast.

Lobregat said the completion of the project will result to smooth flow of vehicular traffic from and to the city proper, both from east and west coast of this city.

He said the widening of the Zamboanga City Labuan-Limpapa Highway and the seaside road from two lanes to four lanes is now ongoing.

The widening of the highway is from the junction of Baliwasan Chico towards the village of Calarian while that of the seaside road is from the junction of Baliwasan Chico to San Jose Gusu village. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
