Bidding for Bacolod drainage study set

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will hold the bidding for the P16-million comprehensive drainage master plan of Bacolod City on March 17.

District Engineer Abraham Villareal said Wednesday the bidding will be held at the DPWH Central office.

“If this pushes through, we will have a master plan and this will arm Bacolod City through the DPWH in requesting for funds to address the flood problems,” Villareal added.

The comprehensive master plan, which was earlier requested by Bacolod Representative Greg Gasataya, involves both national and local roads.

Villareal said the P16 million covers the consultancy work and the preparations of the feasibility report.

“The DPWH will hire an expert for this project. They will calculate the cost or civil works activities that should be implemented here,” he said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia also requested the DPWH to fund the traffic lights located on the national road junctions.

“If the DPWH will shoulder this, the city can concentrate on the local roads and we can maximize our traffic lights,” Leonardia said.
