THE Cebu City Government will distribute tomorrow the first tranche of this year’s financial assistance for the senior citizens.
Some 67,300 elderly in the city will receive P2,000 each, which will represent their cash aid from January to February, said Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) chief Domingo Chavez.
For this year, all qualified senior citizens in the city will get P12,000 financial assistance.
In his news conference yesterday, Mayor Tomas Osmeña said the distribution in the mountain villages will be done in their respective barangay halls but City Hall personnel will supervise it.
He said, though, he is willing to transfer the venue if there are other areas that are more convenient for the elderly.
“We will consider exceptions. This is not a hard and fast rule. If the school or some other places are more convenient for the elderly, we will consider that,” the mayor said.
For the lowland barangays, Chavez said the venue will still be the same with that of the previous distribution.
The City will release the cash aid from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Chavez said senior citizens who submitted their financial assistance requirements to OSCA last Aug. 8, 2016 are included in this year’s list of beneficiaries.
Senior citizens who have filed after the said date, Chavez said, will have to wait for the release of their financial assistance next month.
